A good, fun, Quiptic-style puzzle Leucine, thanks. It's great to have a puzzle where so many of the solutions are deducible from the wordplay rather than guessing the answer from the definition and then working out why it's right. Favourites were 12A, 27A, 15D, 18D (well disguised) and 23D. And International Polar Year really is a thing (I had to check)!
