Cryptic crossword No 1,615

Fair old workout there Guava. Annotated solutions were helpful in post-parsing some of the trickier ones, I particularly enjoyed/admired 15a, 17a, 26a, 16d, 22d, 24d among others. Feels a bit above my pay grade to critique, so will leave that to others. Thanks for the fun and games…

Super puzzle, Guava. Some cracking clues, my picks being: 6a, 10a, 19a, 27a (COTD), 3d, 4d, 6d, 12d and 25d.

Thanks Guava - I must have been reasonably on the wavelength, and also found loads to enjoy. 27a also my COTD, but big ticks for 6a, 20a, 28a, 2d, 8d, and 12d.

I think that's your best puzzle yet Guava, packed full of wonderful clueing and compelling surface images. Clever and creative across the grid, I particularly enjoyed 9a (very neat), 10a (neat), 11a (cool surface), 18a (nice), 19a (very nice), 20a (neat), 27a (creative), 3d (cute), 12d (fun surface), 16d (lovely), 24d (very neat) and 25d (nice) - bravo!

I found this one pretty challenging, but got there in the end with only a few left that needed reveals. Some great clues in there, and apart from 5d (impossible for me, haha. I stared at the annotated solution a good while) a nice difficulty level. Cheers!

Hi Guava. Sorry to be slow in getting around to tackling this. I can see why so many folk like it and agree with sirdakka that this is comfortably your best puzzle to date. No quibbles from me and plenty of praise for some delightful surfaces which show off your erudition and command of the language to a splendid degree. Thanks Guava for the challenge. The SW corner was my downfall but I still found much to enjoy such as 15a, 19a, 23a, 5d, and 22d.
