Cryptic crossword No 1,636

Hopefully mostly straightforward. I've been a bit naughty in 9a, and I should've realised 7d and 8d would be harder to clue 'easily', especially with no first letter to help out. I think the crossers of those are easy-ish enough... Cheers

I enjoyed this and found it a pretty good level, completed with just a couple of parses I was struggling on. 23a was my favourite, with 1a also very good. 17a is lovely, the sort of clue that bothers you until you have a few crossers and suddenly you kick yourself. 18d similarly. And 13a and 7d are really nice as well.
