Thanks Chopin that was a cracker! 24d, 14d, 2d went in quickly then discovered the theme and enjoyed the ride! Found a good bit of it quite taxing, but great fun. 16d last in (and marvellous!). Favourites 19a, 21a, 25a, 26a, 14d, 16d, 22d and of course 1a.

Thanks chopin, I enjoyed solving this and found it a good level of difficulty with a nice theme to boot. Particular favourites were 1a 27a (this gives a lot to the solver but it's a cracking anagram and surface), 21a, 25a (very nice) and 14d.

Very enjoyable! And the quickest I've filled in the first 30 squares in a crossword 😆 (the enumeration helped a LOT). The rest was a nice mix of difficulty including a couple that held me up somewhat before the end. Podium: 18a, 26a, 6d. More in reply ->
