Cryptic crossword No 1,807

Very good PM, thanks. Found it pretty tricky as per, particularly the top half and even more specifically the NW where a couple of reveals were required. NHO 12a but realised what it had to be with the crossers. Favourites: 5a, 18a (great spot ), 25a, 7d (obvs), 8d, 16d and 19d.

Somewhat reluctantly, a minor edit made to 7d. I am not normally given to incorporating too much of the vernacular and chose a term I felt was strong enough. I have been advised by one who studies these things that the term I chose is uncountable - I had never given that a second thought - and the greater sin is to be inaccurate! So, edit made. It's not often that I can so easily edit the crap out of my puzzles!

Thanks PostMark. I didn't score 100% but I solved enough to be satisfied. My top picks were 18a, 2d, 3d, 6d, 7d, 8d, 17d, and 24d. I revealed a few letters and I needed your annotations to fully understand 1a, 11a, 12a, 22a, 1d, 16d, and 19d. As with many crosswords partial parsing, crossers, and definitions usually get me to the solutions.

Thank you. Found that tough, but got there in the end with a bit of checking rather than revealing. Likes: 5a, 25a, 28a, 3d (worked out the construction straight away, but took a while to get to the solution!), 5d, 13d, 16d.

My third PM puzzle in three days (don't do any more, let me catch up 😆) and by far the trickiest. But ultimately doable! My podium this time was the long multi-worders 14a, 18a and 22a. Mild spoilers (observations on my solving experience, not quibbles) in the reply. thanks!
