Cryptic crossword No 1,845

A thematic note in the reply:

Very good - have to confess to a bit of googling to confirm one or two of the the themers (of which there were many!). Some very satisfying ‘aha’ clues in there - favourites were 15a, 1a & 20

Surprisingly, no googling required to complete this, although some done afterwards to make sense of some of the entries. Liked 9a, 14a, 15a, 29a, 4d, 17d...

Nice one Mallimack. Somewhat beyond my pay grade - no familiarity the theme - but it was worth the entrance money for 7d alone!

Thanks Mallimack. It will not surprise you, I am sure, that a couple of solutions were beyond my ken - 15a and the 6a/10a combo both defeated me. Otherwise, a relatively approachable puzzle with some interesting tricks. 9a, 12a, 20a, 26a, 4d, 16d and 17d were my faves. Thanks. PM
