Thanks for this Ottsel, I enjoyed solving this. I especially liked 12a, 13a, 19a and 4d (I wrote a very similar clue for this recently - I prefer yours though!). Favourite clue is 20d, "Desperate man" made me chuckle and it's a tough word which is nearly and fairly clued.
Thanks Ottsel - that was a fun, friendly solve. Some good anagrams worked into convincing surfaces. I wasn’t entirely convinced by the homophones but they do tend to be location dependent. I agree with Meles re 20d, and also particularly liked 10A, 12A, 1D and 18D.
Enjoyable and not too wildly obscure, apart from 5d which was a new word for me. I particularly liked 12a, 19a and 24a. If I was to be very picky, I think match in 27a should be game. But the surface brought back, I won’t say happy, memories of very long ago…
