Cryptic crossword No 2,514

Loved this Gennaro, though some time was wasted looking for a Latin phrase which wasn't there. The more ribald stuff in 14a and 25a raised a chuckle, and 10a is bloody hilarious! Thank you.

Took a while to get going but then mostly smooth as things clicked into place. As usual I got some "extra" help. Agree with Shorty about the naughty ones, 14a especially! Other faves include 6a,12a,22a,26a and 4d,5d and 16d. A pleasure as always!

Very nice Gennaro, thanks. I think that’s the first time that I’ve solved the key clue straightaway and immediately guessed the related phrase. I needed to solve a couple of clues to work out where to put it mind you! So a pretty quick solve resulted although the NE held me up for a while. The amusing WP certainly helped with the NHO 14a! Other favourites: 15a, 23a, 26a, 2d, 9d and 24d.

Nice and gentle - I would have had a first pass solve were it not for the nho 20a to which I had to return once I'd solved 21d. Amazingly, I knew 23a - I think I owned a book by him until literally last Friday! 11a, 19a, 2d, 3d and 24d my faves. Thanks. PM

Nice one Gennaro! Signature style with a flourish, and as others have commented a bit of mischief. Wordplay clear and precise enough to help with some of the more obscure references.
