Hahaha, I got it! 😆 And very well worked too! Some very nice clues including 14a, 28a, 3d (😆), 13d and 20d (CotD). The grid was a bit unfriendly in places though! A few under-checked lights is OK but having a couple of 3-letter words with 2 unches is a little tough on the solver! I had a few little eyebrow wiggles on some envelope-pushing that I will explain in the reply... but overall, super puzzle! 👏

Thanks Ruskin, that was excellent. Everything readily gettable, including 17a. If it's the members which cause eyebrow wiggles I'd have thought characters would have been fine (but less smutty of course). 3d, 13d, 20d and 26d very nicely done, although I do like Henri's suggestion!

Inventive stuff; a couple of bits here and there that were too chewy for my heat-addled brain (parse for 29a, for example).

Hi Ruskin, thanks for a fun and creative puzzle - lots to like and some innovative ideas. Some of the clues are outstanding and really neat. My favourites were probably as follows: 12a 16a 18a 29a 1d 3d and 17d. Cheers! A few spoilery type comments to follow…

Very good Ruskin, thanks. A little too chewy for me in places but lots to like. Nothing much to add to the extensive comments that others have made except to stress the undesirability of a six letter solution with only 2 checked letters. I’m sure you’d never see that in one of the papers. Favourites: 9a, 18a, 28a (resonated with this golfer!), 3d (although not entirely sure I’d call it a club?), 6d, 17d and 21d.

Better late than never but I've had a few other commitments over the latter part of the week. Plenty to enjoy in this. I'm slightly less concerned about some of the grid aspects though I guess that's because I managed to solve the clues that were affected - other than 22a right at the end. If I had spotted your theme by then, it would have helped. 20d is COTD and, with huge respect to Guava, I don't think it needs a QM. Perfectly fair. 14a is outrageous 🤣. Others have contributed ...
