Cryptic crossword No 550

Ha, what a fun puzzle, with characteristically neat and clever clueing. Really liked 5d 9d 14d and 22a, but (SPOILERS)…

Great fun, thank you - I thought 8a, 27a and 24d were particularly apposite. I’m very impressed by the speed with which you’ve produced this, it would have taken me about a month!

Great to see another puzzle from you Gollum, and this was a lot of fun (in the sorry circumstances)! I really liked 8A, 12A, 13A, 3D, 5D, 21D, 23D and 24D.

Bravo gollum. Great fun. 13A is brilliant. The filled grid did end up a rather grubby setting,  but the clues for the dross sparkle nicely.

Good to see you back, Gollum, but what an unsavoury theme for a crossword… lots of fine clues though - I agree with others that 13a is the real standout.

Thanks Gollum for an enjoyable puzzle with a nice mix of clues. I'm a bit late to this but luckily (unluckily?) managed to remember the already fallen candidates. Favourite of the themed clues were 13a (of course, super spot) and 8a (I'll never not see this breakdown of that name now). Of the others 22a is great and I also liked 4d and 19d.
