Cryptic crossword No 670

Excellent puzzle, sirdakka: lots of wonderful clues throughout, logically sound and entertaining too. Favourites included 4a, 11a (excellent), 13a, 20d and 25d.

Many thanks Sirdakka, a really super puzzle with great clues all the way through. Lots of clever wordplay, my favourites being 1a, 11a, 12a, 30a, 6d, 8d and 17d; of the arguably more 'conventional' clues 4a, 10a, 13a, 15a, 21a, 23a, 1d, 2d, 7d, 9d, and 14d got the biggest ticks. Another barrel of laughs and PDM's, sirdakka. Well done again. Kept me on my toes throughout and very little to criticise. Favourites included: 1a (typical of you), 4a (nice use of device), 8d/11a combo, 13a (queasy surface/satisfying assembly), 23a (very cunning), 26a (nice double use of drop), 1a (nice misdirection), 2d (super surface), 14d (clever - Qaos-like), 20d (lovely), 22d (simple but very effective), 25d (neat) and 27d (see Reply). Great stuff. Some extremely devious trickery going on in some of those clues! 1a was applause-worthy 👏 1d smoothly executed, 11a and 12a both smartly misdirected, 8d and 17d both very clever - too many other virtual ticks to mention. Masterful!

An excellent puzzle, sirdakka. I want to pick out 15A, 19A, 2D, 3D, 25D for their surfaces and 1A, 11A, 8D and 27D for their inventiveness. And I like the way you have played with numbers here.

Great stuff, thanks sirdakka. I really enjoyed the creativity and misdirection in the clues. Plenty to like, I'll choose 1a, 11a, 29a, 1d and 22d as favourites.

A brilliantly inventive puzzle, sirdakka, well done! I really like the way you’ve pushed the boat out with the devices that you’ve used. It was a bit too clever for me in places, particularly in the bottom half of the puzzle, but that’s my problem. Coming to this slightly late means that Fez has already picked up some minor niggles that I might have mentioned (concerning 28D, 20D and 27D) but that’s not to detract from the puzzle overall. Faves: 12A, 13A, 15A, 16A, 23A, 3D, 9D, 14D and 17D

This was great, thanks sirdakka - might be the first one of yours I've done? It won't be the last! Inventive but entirely fair cluing, and great surfaces. The biggest ticks were for 1A, 4a, 21a, 7d, and 27d.
