Well, Fez, I appear to be the first to comment. This wasn't quite the evil monster I'd anticipated - for which, I am most grateful. Coupla things I couldn't parse which your Annotations make clear. All in all, a very enjoyable run through. Favourites include: 9a (nice cycling clue), 10a (lovely surface), 21a (ditto and clever), 23a (one for Coot), 30a (how could I not), 7d (very smooth), 13d (droll), 15d (cute), 22d (nice misdirection), 27d (fnar, fnar), 28d (lovely ending). Spoilers in Reply.

Thanks Fez - great work. Took me a couple of extensive sessions and a few reveals but here I am to tell the tale. The theme went way over my head, but that is a very impressive grid fill now you’ve explained it. Some super clues in here, particularly 9A, 13A, 23A (wondered when that would appear!), 4D, 6D, 12D, 14D, 20D and 27D

Just a quick note to say thanks for the puzzle Fez, lovely so far but I've been distracted and filling this one in gradually - will feedback when I've completed!

Thanks Fez, I enjoyed this one a lot. Quite a few words and defs I didn't know but in each case the other part of the clue bailed me out, which is a sign of good and fair cluing imo. I particularly liked 9a, 23a, 32a, 8d, 19d (two very satisfying anagrams), 20d and 24d (lovely natural surface).

Thanks for the delightful challenge, Fez - I've thoroughly enjoyed solving this over the past few days in brief moments of solving time, and while you made me work for the satisfaction, this was chock full of inventiveness and creativity of construction. You defeated me in a few spots requiring letter reveals for me but everything fair and very neatly clued - particular favourites were 9a (very neat), 11a (nho but satisfyingly gettable), 13a (fun), 16a (I like the construction, no concerns...
