Hello MyCrossword community. This is my first cryptic crossword to be shared in public, and it still has some issues (including a tweak or two too far on the grid to fit more themed solutions), but I think it's a fair record of my starting point, so up it has gone. Thanks in advance for any solves or comments.

An enjoyable quickie. All very fair. I've learnt the names of a poem and a language. Thanks

31a was new to me! A fun start; the 'one of many' in 10d made me chuckle.

Hi Pixie, thanks for a lovely debut puzzle and welcome to MyC! This was a satisfying solve, and you've constructed a some great clues, particularly 1a (neat), 12a (clean), 14a (neat), 28a (cute), 31a (very clean), 32a (simple but effective), 2d (neat), 7d (very neat), 10d (one of many is fun), 21d (nice assembly), 25d (fun) and 27d (fun all round). Lots to like and very little to quibble, lovely stuff and keep em coming. Merry Christmas!

Fabulous debut, well done. Some very clever clues that raised a smile, such as 32a, 2d, 17d and 29d. Although I still haven’t spotted the theme! Probably me being really dim. A couple of tiny additional items comments in the Reply. Thanks!

Hi Pixie and, indeed, a warm welcome to MyCrossword. A lovely debut and, as one who enjoys surfaces, I thought you came up with a lovely set of intriguing images. Nicely crafted. Favourites included: 1a (nice that it's NOT a palindrome!), 13a (nice def), 14a (clever), 28a (lol), 32a (nice Lynne Truss ref), 34a (just lovely), 3d (nice def), 5d (not difficult but surface is lol), 7d (delightful), 11d (nice nonsensical image), 27d (it helped that I work with one so named). Spoilers in Reply.

You have a unique style, but I managed to get on the wavelength fairly quickly. I still needed help with a few like 31a. Generally succinct clueing which I like, including 1a, 15a, 34a, 2d, 7d, 24d and 25d. Hope to see more....

Congratulations on your debut, Pixie, that was a fun puzzle to solve! 16A, 23A, 26A, 27D are the clues I'd like to pick out. I'm looking forward to seeing more puzzles from you in the future.

A lovely debut puzzle, thanks Pixie. 31A got the better of me - I could see what was required but didn’t manage to unearth the word, which was a NHO. But lots to enjoy and my particular favourites were 4A, 12A, 16A, 5D, 17D and 24D. Spoilers...

Nice work. You clearly know what you're doing, and it's good to read that this won't be a one-off. For me, it's an extra bonus if a crossword has very few suffixes in the answers, as is the case here. 31A was new to me, and that's OK, but your use of a noun as an anagram indicator threw me, and some editors wouldn't let you get away with that. I'm also unconvinced about how 12A reads. I don't think you can say 'Scatter ... will', but I'm being a bit pedantic there.

Well done, Pixie. I said I’d take a look and so I did, and it’s a creditable debut - some rough edges as mentioned by others but nothing that can’t be ironed out with practice. My favourites were 9d, 10d. 32a would have been perfect if it could have been “Eats…”

Welcome Pixie, and thank you for a lovely crossword. Just thought I’d say I really liked 1a 4a 14a 22a 7d and 17d. Laughs for 28a 21d and 32a. Nice one.

Thanks Pixie, good fun - as others have noted, a fair few rough edges to address, especially removing unnecessary "filler", but lots of nice ideas, 28a in particular, but also things like the definitions in 13a and 15a suggest more fun puzzles to come. Other faves include 23a & 9d. Thanks again, looking forward to more from Pixie!
