Cryptic crossword No 976

Hi jugular. I didn't get around to this yesterday but, somehow, Sunday does feel rather more appropriate - for many of the surfaces though one or two would possibly struggle to find any appropriate day of the week! Hi jugular, I really enjoyed this, both theme and execution. Found it to be a very satisfying solve, thank you. My favourites were 8a 9a 19a 22a 24a (love those kind of observations about the composition of words - what a lovely spot) 7d and 23d. I liked all the numbers featuring after turning to the downs.
