Cryptic crossword No 2,479

I especially liked 9a, 14a, 24a (neat def), and 6d, 23d and 25d

Thanks rowboat & welcome to MyC. If this is your 1st cryptic you've done well. While some surfaces could use a bit of polishing (we've all heard that!) the grammar seems fine. I revealed 20a but managed to solve the rest with 9a, 1d, 10d, & 14d being my favourites. More in reply.

This is a very accomplished debut, if it is indeed your first! Some very clever ideas in the clues. I particularly liked 12a, the run of 22a, 24a, 25a and 23d. I do have some additional commentary in the reply if you’re in the market for some constructive critique 😁 but overall, very impressive and I’d like to see more puzzles!
