Amazing achievement to pack so many themed answers and references in to one puzzle, very well done - 4a is my COTD

As Drummond says, remarkable gridfill. Especially one of them! Despite not knowing the theme well, I was able to get many of them from your clear clueing. On a few occasions, I might not have known the answer if it was staring me in the face. Favourites include 4a, 11a, 21a (great spot), 24a, 2d, 20d. Thanks. PM

Nice one, yogdaws, a good debut (is this your first attempt at setting?). As others have said, well done on getting a good number of theme words in. A few minor quibbles here and there, but much to enjoy too - favourites for me were 1a, 11a, 26a, 2d, 7d. Spoilers in reply…

I really enjoyed this, despite a lack of knowledge in the particular subject (I confess that some Wikipedial assistance was called upon). Great to see so many themed words, quite the feat. Not wholly sure about the grammatical structure of the wordplay in one clue (see reply) but that’s a minor quibble. Good work!

Thanks all! Yes, 8d was rather forced on me, and was a bit of a pain to clue because of the awkward definition (more details/spoilers in reply). I've been setting crosswords for years, mostly for my parents for birthdays/xmas etc - this was one of those, though I tweaked various clues for this version in order to improve them.

That was a wonderfully creative MyC debut, yogdaws - thanks for the puzzle! Impressively consistent and fun implementation of the theme too. Particular favourites were 1a, 4a, 10a, 22a (cunning), 3d was fun and a lovely surface, 8d was rather good I thought all things considered and 20d another top thematic surface. Really well done!

Thanks yogdaws, very much enjoyed this - having sufficient knowledge of the theme to get by certainly helped! As well as the vast number of thematic entries, the clues for those ones were nicely handled with 12a, 21a, 2d and 23d my favourites of those. Additionally I liked 5d and 16d from the non-themed clues.
